Thankful Reflections & Thanksgiving OOTD

Today I am thankful. And today I reflect on the fact that each and every day I am thankful. For what, well- that changes daily.
Some days I'm thankful for hot tea and cable knit sweaters. Other days I'm thankful for long books and slow songs. Or even silence and a clear mind. But every day I am thankful for the moments. The good ones that send me soaring high over oceans and in planes to places I never dreamed of. And the bad ones, that send my flying straight back down, grounding me to my two humble feet. Together in a jumble of seasons and hours and seconds, those moments make up this life I lead. And this life I love.
So today I challenge you to find what you're thankful for. It can be the big things, your first love, your beating heart, the food in your stomach or the bed where you lay your head. But sometimes the big things break at the seams, so take a moment to count the little things. Green Sour Patch Kids, your favorite TV show, a good novel, fuzzy socks, things that smell good, long drives, sunsets and imaginary friends. We take what we can get and we make the most of that. Make it magical.
And if you can't find big things or little things. Let me be your thing. Let me be the first to tell you that I am thankful for YOU. That you are worth more than you can wrap your head around. That I care what happens to you. That you matter the whole world to me.
I live a life comprised solely of moments. And those moments are all thanks to you. Because one day you clicked on a YouTube video, and you found a girl with a twisted sense of humor, a love of Christmas, candles and makeup and you saw something in her. Something enough to bring you back. And before that girl on your computer screen knew it, there were half a million people who got her. And that girl felt a little less alone. And that girl became a somebody. And that girl is living out her wildest dreams. And that girl is me. And this girl says thank you.

Happy Thanksgiving

Fashionably (Running) Late

We've all been there, one minute you're watching old episodes of One Tree Hill on Netflix and BAM suddenly its 3AM & you've got to get up in 3 hours. And alas, morning comes and the snooze button becomes your new play thing and before you know it you've got 5 minutes til class starts. Hopefully I'm not alone in this vicious cycle...So I made a video to save you sleep deprived students who arn't too keen on showing up to Psych 101 wearing Spongebob PJ's BUT want to feel just as comfortable, while saving you time in the morning. So I present to you, my "Running Late for School: 3 Comfy & Cute Outfits!" video!

This first look I rock way more than socially acceptable. I literally sleep in these super soft BM hoodies with leggings 5 days out of the week. So when I need to run errands to the new trendy Whole Foods (Where there are TONS of hot guys I may add...) I don't want to change completely but I want to seem semi-presentable. So throw on a leather jacket and boots and suddenly you've got an outfit! Hair a mess? Uh, that's why hoods were invented. No time or energy for eye makeup? Hello, sunglasses!
Hoodie- Brandy Melville, Jacket- PacSun, Leggings- Hue, Boots- Nine West, Sunnies- Rayban, Purse- Longchamp

This next outfit has to be my personal favorite of the three. Skinny sweatpants are as ingenious as electronic kettles. It's a game changer in my life. They're publicly stated as fashionable and trendy...and THEY'RE SWEATPANTS! Need I say more? You need them in your life. Plus witty beanies and sneakers make you look like you're too busy and important to shower or wear heels. It's alllll about the illusion of a social life.

Top- H&M, Skinny Sweats- Zara, Beanie- Brandy Melville, Wedge Sneakers- DailyL

And finally, the most professional of the outfits. This was my go-to ensemble for finals week in college. I'd say up til 6 am studying flash cards of oceanography and suddenly I'd be asleep facedown in my text book. I don't know about you guys, but when I take a test, or public speak, I like to look the smarty pants part. Put together, prepared, and ready to ace it. Wearing my actual glasses (yes these are my prescription) not only saves me the hassle of putting contacts in in a rush, it makes me look stereotypically smarter! No time to change out of your PJ shirt? Totally fine! Throw on a blazer and no one will ever know! Finish it off with black harem pants, crazy comfortable, and hides wrinkles so well!

No one will ever know what you looked like 5 minutes ago ;)

Fashion meets Function

Because posing for an impromptu photoshoot in the middle of a parking lot is totally normal.
Now I'll be the first to admit I can be a slave for fashion. I'll teeter around in 6 inch stilettos and suffer a wedgie for the perfect mini skirt. But this outfit ladies and gentleman, was picked out with purpose.
Was I inspired by the pastels gracing our presence at fashion week? Nope, that's not it. Was I salvaging the final weeks of summer in a tribal maxi? No, that's not it either. Give up? This outfit conceals the fact that at this current moment I am
a hot freaking mess
The maxi dress has been key for pregnant celebs hiding baby bumps and thanksgiving consequences on the red carpet. & this H&M maxi is ever so gracefully gliding over my boot (see it peeking out in the first picture?)
Now on to the hat. Shielding the scorching Bay Area sun out of my eyes? Or hiding my un-showered hair? More like covering the absolute
atrocious dye job that I endured
last week. After hours at the salon
my friend Marissa managed to
salvage my blonde, but the ginger
roots I got the week before
are leaving my hair looking a bit
"strawberry" which, as I now know,
is so NOT my color.

And thus, this outfit was born!

Summer to Fall | Transitional Fashion |

I swear the moment we turn our calendars from August to September, a flip goes off in our brains saying, "yep it's fall now." When in reality the 24 hours in time does nothing to the scorching 98 degree weather or my craving for popsicles.
Alas, I've already begun to see the swarm of 12 year olds and their "ZOMG STAHP FIRST PUMPSPICELATTE OF THE YURRR" Instagram posts. I want to shake them screaming, "THE AIR OUTSIDE IS HOTTER THAN YOUR BEVERAGE CHILD!" But don't worry, I've restrained myself.
This transitional time between summer and fall is my favorite time for fashion. It's still socially acceptable to wear white (and let's be real, Michael Kors said no white after Labor Day is so 2002) but now I get to pull out my favorite fall piece, felt hats!
Take a gander at what I'm eying this transitional season,

Summer to Fall

Tan faux leather jacket, $62 / Hollister Co. blue jeans / Steven by Steve Madden ankle booties / Tory Burch leather handbag / Alex and Ani bracelet / Alex and Ani bracelet / Alex and Ani bracelet charm / Topshop floppy hat / OPI nail polish, $28
  1. My family recently had an intervention regarding my leather jacket addiction. But hey, no one said anything about BROWN leather jackets! And this rich tan waterfall style jacket actually has me tearing up...I may or may not have a problem (that we'll address after I own this baby)
  2. My oxblood (is that pompous word for maroon still 'in'?) felt hat got such use last fall that it has me craving its black counterpart. It makes every outfit so "Oh hey I'm Vanessa Hudgens and I'm just casually drinking Kombucha while leafing through an abstract novel while seamlessly engaging in a romantic but not cliche conversation with my sexy sexy boyfriend" Hey, maybe if I get the hat I can land a man like that (a girl can dream)
  3. Can I take one of those "I had it before it was trendy" moments, with boyfriend jeans!? Granted, I was 17 and I just looked like Ellen Degeneres was my muse, but regardless, I did it first! Those babies got lost in my recent ten thousand moves, and I think they'll be perfect to pair with more summery tops this month
  4. OPI came out with a San Francisco collection and it is taking every ounce of self control for me not to run out and buy every single one reppin' my city. This dark maroon may not be the most unique shade, but with a name like 'Lost on Lombard' how can I resist?
  5. My trendy & hippie-chic godmother got me addicted to Alex and Ani bangles last winter and I want to be more iced out than 2 Chainz come this fall.
  6. THERE ARE NO WORDS. None. Absolutely none. The love affair I have with these booties is unhealthy. Everything about them screams Meghan...aside from the ever so hefty price tag. But as my inner shopping enabler reminds me, they're on sale! For a measly $315 that is. But who needs to buy groceries when I can feast my eyes on these beauties? No? Not justifiable? Brb crying myself to sleep.
  7. I prefer the term "classic" rather than "basic bitch." I find clutches so impractical for day to day use, but this crossbody is perfect for day to day use, and BAM, tuck the chain in & you've got a night out clutch! See?! I can justify quite anything at this point, (if only they had that major at University...)
So tell me, what does September have you craving?

Help Me Pick My New Glasses!

I'm blind as a bat. There I said it. (Side note, are bats the only 'blind' animal? Why not the phrase, 'I'm blind as one of the three blind mice' ...just some food for thought) Let me admit something to you, and I'm only doing this because I think we're close. Close enough that you swear you won't judge me for the photo I'm about to show you. Let's rip the bandaid off....

I. Meghan Rosette. Had transition lenses. THEREISAIDIT.

For those of you fortunate to miss the era where they were 'in' (also this really doesn't apply to the transition lenses of 2013, that stuff is actually legit) Transition lenses were glasses created by satan himself to make awkward and chubby 5th graders like me, even more self conscious about their appearance. All in all they were just plain B-A-D. Even worse than gauchos. And the unicorn sweater Lizzie McGuire wore on picture day. Yes. They were that bad.

I'll admit, the concept of transition lenses were great. Glasses that were clear when you're inside, that tint to sunglasses when you go outside. Sounds pretty convenient right? WRONG, OH SO VERY WRONG. The first issue. They never got fully light. And even worse than that? They never got fully dark. So I was left with this awkward in between tinge...and because I was "trendy" (weird/strange/'unique'/special/insane) I thought, hey, let's tint them pink. In all fairness the shade was actually called "Crystal Rose" so it sounded pretty classy to my 11 year old self. Oh so wrong on oh so many levels.

*My dearest Hannah I am so sorry I'm subjecting this photo to the internet, but it had to be done*
-Also can we discuss that this was me FRESHMAN YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL...I can't.
I can't even.

So that's my first glasses story...alas, come freshman year of high school I was cast in a play that required me to get contacts, so I've stuck with those ever sense, ditching the transition lenses along the way. My most recent pair of glasses I got about 3-4 years ago in my "hipster phase" (Yes I had way too many phases...it was a phase..) and while they were (and still are) really cute, they're actually mens glasses which don't even fit my head! Over the years I've managed to make them seriously crooked, so when Warby Parker contacted me asking if I wanted to get a new pair of glasses I was like "OH SWEET GLASSES GODS YES PLEASE"

...so this is how we got here today....BAH BAM

So help a sistah out in picking out my new glasses by commenting on my new video which glasses you like the best on me! I'm leaning towards the Cosby but I want to hear your opinions!

StyleSteal: Taylor Swift RED Inspired Makeup & Fashion

It is no secret that I have an unhealthy obsession with Miss Taylor Swift...but let's be real here, I'm pretty sure (even if you refuse to admit it) ever single, bitter, 19 year old longing for prince charming has a soft spot for her. Don't deny it, I know you secretly sing 'Enchanted' in your bedroom staring longingly at pictures of Andrew Garfield....wait thats just me? Awkward...

Taylor's new hair has gotten quite a stir out of the media as of late as she ditched her platinum wild curls for dirty blonde straight bangs, I'm still deciding if I'm on team straight or curly...but from one curly girl to another, I adored how well she rocked that lion mane! The pin straight just does not have the same hairography factor ;) But with this new hair Taylor debuted what is now being called her 'signature style,' something I have so endearingly started calling 'Swifty Style'...catchy huh? I'm pretty proud of it...not gonna lie.

Swifty Style is basically a modern (and cuter) version of where's waldo.....you think I'm kidding? Cross my heart, swear on Harry Potter he has been her current twin...In all actuality anyone else would just note that she's a fan of nautical colors, boat neck tops, and stripes. In my world? That means she may or may not be closely related to the Waldo family.

What's great about Taylor's style is that it's so easily re-created, unlike most Hollywood A-listers, she sticks to a basic wardrobe of classic pieces, something us mere mortals can find bargin hunting at Forever21, and sifting through sale racks at JCrew.

So am I alone in this ever growing Taylor Swift obsession? Please say no so I can feel slightly better about the amount of hours I spend singing her songs, and just all around desperately wishing she and I could have a slumber party filled with tea, cats, and baking. But really...is that too much to ask for? Santa are you listening ;) ?

How I Style 3 Fall Fashion Essentials

Fall fashion is by far my favorite season for styling. Sadly being a Southern California student, we don't get to experience leaves changing, or even that brisk evening air until nearly November...(tear) But that doesn't mean I can't blast the air conditioning, dress up in boots and pretend....right?

In this video 4 other beauty youtubers and I styled 3 essential items, liquid leggings, denim shirt, and a little black dress! What's so fun about this video is that we all have SUCH different styles, so no matter what your taste in fashion is, you're bound to find each one styling variation that suits you!

Check out the video linked below! & Tell me what your fall fashion must have is!

Style Forecast: Baroque

Last night after watching 'Love and Other Drugs' (not as bas as the reviews made it sound BTW) I stumbled upon E's 'Fashion Police' Let me start off by saying I typically never agree with these types of shows, I could care less what celebrities are wearing most of the time. But I tuned in right when the hosts were discussing the newest fall trend, baroque.

Baroque, is an artistic style, ranging from paintings, archetecture and fashion dating back to the 17th century. Think very over the top, ornate detailing, weaving, lavish and expensive. When I heard baroque was making a modern day comeback let's just say I was surprised. The last time I saw anything modern fitting baroque was a rug...not a dress. But after further research, I fell in love with the modern day twist on the 17th century style.

Seen on the runway by D&G

Obviously not all of us are going to be rocking full fledged baroque dresses & jackets, but it's a really easy style to transfer from the runway and tone down for the every day fashionista. (I totally have this gut insane feeling that H&M is going to go crazy with this trend for fall....so fingers crossed I'm right! I'd love to see what they'd bring out on an affordable level for us mere mortals )

Obviously a cult favorite in rocking this new trend, sunglasses are a simple way to sport the trend, but these Prada sunnies are anything BUT simple. They're a statement and totally fashion forward.

If you're loving this style but you're not too keen on wearing it head to toe, go for a scarf! The print makes it baroque, but because it is such a timeless style, you'll be wearing it for seasons to come, especially if you get it in a neutral color!

Using baroque style for home decor...can you say genius? Crown molding, marble, ornately carved head boards, super lavish, circa Marie Antoinette. We all love living like princesses, so a cheap picture frame with over the top detail is perfect to channel your inner royalty.

It is no secret that I have a weakness for patterned pants...something about them is so retro to me. Damask is a baroque pattern that we've been loving for years, and going for a subtle damask pattern on a pair of J Brand skinnies is basically heaven on jeans for me. Going for a light colors in the pattern makes the pants a subtle statement, nothing too over the top and loud.

So tell me, what do YOU girls think of baroque? Is it something you're loving for fall? Or do you wish it stayed back in the 17th century with beheading? Let me know in the comments below!

My Style Current Cravings

As you all well know I'm obsessed with shopping and fashion, and I thought I'd update you to the current items I'm lusting over. Bring these babys to my closet puhleaaaaase :)

1. Turquoise Skull Bracelet- Okay is it just me or are skulls cute now...Like they feel much less Hot Topic and way more Brandy Melville to me! & Not to mention this is one of my favorite colors!
Purchase Here: Turquoise Skull Bracelet

2. Wildfox Couture- I've been a fan of Wildfox designs for a while now, just not the hefty price tag. But for this sweater I may have to make an exception. Pink and vampires? It's like it knows me...
Purchase Here: Wildfox Vampire

3. Chain Bracelets- With my new love of watches comes my love of stacking (If you've seen my Instagram you're already probably annoyed with the pics of my loaded wrists daily.) This piece is so unique with the metals mixing, paired with a pop of color or a girl bangle and a watch would make this perfection!
Purchase Here:Chain Bracelet

4. Rose Gold Michael Kors Watch- I'm finally hopping on the rose gold trend (thank my friend Sarah for showing me it's not as freaky and hard to wear as it seems). I have been drooling over this watch since it's release, I'm such a huge fan of MK's big faced blingy watches & this is seriously to die for.
Purchase Here: MK Rose Gold Watch

5. Tory Burch Sandals- Uhhh cutest thing ever? Need I say more? I'm in love with my Reva flats. but being a California girl I wear sandals nearly everyday. I find myself reaching for my beat up Forever21 sandals daily, why not invest in something a little more glam?
Purchase Here: Tory Burch Sandals

6. Infinity Bracelet- I first spotted the infinity jewelry trend on one of my friends last year and I couldn't stop thinking about how dainty and sweet they were. Laced through a leather strap toughens up the look, a perfect layering piece! PS Still on the hunt for a gold infinity ring!
Purchase Here: Infinity Bracelet

7. Mint Jeans- Yes I am circling back to the trend I rocked my Sophomore year of high school...let's hope it turns out better than it did then, granted I was heinous... I love how crisp these look, and with my new found love of wearing colors (Snaps for me!) These are something I can't stop lusting after, paired with a chiffon white top and cork wedges? Droooool
Purchase Here:Mint Jeans

8. Pearl Studs- I blame Sarah again for my desire for these classic items. A pearl stud is so out of my comfort zone, I'm so used to rocking long feather earrings, or tiered turquoise chandelier ones, nothing simple, and nothing that would ever be concidered "timeless". But somehow that switch flipped and now I can't stop thinking about them! Sorority girl problems. Sigh.
Purchase Here:Pearl Studs

9. Aqua Heeled Sandals- When I walked into Target and saw these I almost had a heart attack. Was I in thrifty heaven? Obviously the shopping gods were trying to spare me $30 so inevitably they were sold out in my size. A tear or two may have been shed...But I WILL find these to fit my gigantic yeti feet, too cute to pass up. I've never been one for casual heels before, but I kid you not when I say these have been haunting my dreams.
Purchase Here: Target Aqua Sandals

So what are you guys craving fashion wise? Or am I alone on my constant thrive for fashion perfection...awkward... :)
